Feb. 29- Mar. 4

This week in math students learned how to convert mixed to improper fractions and how to create equivalent fractions. Next week students will create fractions with a common denominator and will compare and order fractions. There will be a quiz on fractions on Thursday.

In language we had a guest speaker, Michelle Cho, come in to do a lesson on stereotypes in the media. Students will use this knowledge when we work on an art piece next week. Additionally, students worked on their own spoken word poem, which they will present next week.  In literature circle groups, students used the App, "Aurasma" to link their movie trailer to a poster. The trailers can now be viewed by holding up a device, like a phone, to the poster.

Homework for this week:

1) Read for at least 20 minutes each day. (Challenge yourself by reading grade appropriate texts.)
2)  Read the text, "Martha Jane Poulson" and answer the questions.
3) Complete the math work on equivalent fractions.
4) Complete the cursive practise.

Important upcoming dates:

Tuesday, Mar. 8- pool

Thurs. Mar. 10th- math quiz on fractions, homework due
Mar. 12-20th- March Break
Best,
Bronwyn Davidson
