March 6-13

This week in math students worked on transformations of points and shapes, including translations, rotations and reflections. Next week we will put two to three transformations together. In language most students presented their speeches. I was impressed with the clarity and confidence with which everyone spoke! In science students began the design process for a product, toy or device that transforms energy. Grade 6s must include an electrical circuit in their project. Grade 5s can demonstrate the transformation of any kind of energy. We will begin making the projects (at school only) after the March break. In art we had a fantastic field trip to the AGO to see Basquiat's work. Students also had the opportunity to create 3-D wire sculptures in the afternoon. Many thanks to our parent volunteers, Susan, Deidre, Yolanda and Mark who helped us out!

Important upcoming dates:
Monday, March 9th: pool
Thursday, March 12th: Kew Classic hockey game at Kew Park arena
Friday, March 13th: tropical day
March 14th-22nd: March break

Homework for this week:

There will be no homework this week or during March break. Students are encouraged to continue to read daily and can gather materials for their science project.
