March 13-27

This week in math students continued to work on transformations of points and shapes, including translations, rotations and reflections. Students also began to use cubes to create 3-D shapes, then draw their top, front and side views. In language most students finished presenting their speeches and have begun a rough draft of a business letter to someone in a position of power who can affect change regarding a social justice issue. The business letter and an art piece will be our culminating tasks for our inquiry on power. After the break students will use the creative process to create a piece of visual art that demonstrates their understanding of an aspect of power.

Important upcoming dates:
Monday, March 23rd: pool
Tuesday, March 24th: art culminating activity
Thursday, March 26th: spoken word artist presentation
Friday, March 27th: science project materials due; working on project

Homework for this week:

There will be no homework during March break. Students are encouraged to continue to read daily and can gather materials for their science project.
